This saw is great! Short enough to fit in cramped spaces with very good power. Fits well in the hand. Not sure of the exact science but seems very ergonomically sound. Lighter than I would have expected. Dropped it about 15’ onto concrete floor and it just kept working. Great saw!

Lightweight and strong enough todo the job. It does vibrate significantly if not held very securely… with good blades and a firm hand certainly reduce the shaking. Elimination of the need for an extension cord certainly makes this tool handy. We’ll worth the expense and makes a great addition to the tool box of power tools.

I didn’t have high expectations when I pulled this small, inexpensive, and surprisingly light “sawzall” tool from it’s tiny box – but after plowing through dozens of 4-6 lilac trunks (basically as hard as maple) on a single 5.0AH battery charge, I was totally sold. From cutting through studs for renovations to heavy gauge metal for equipment repairs – this tool is a joy to use. Just make sure you have high capacity packs and the new rapid-charger to take full advantage of it.

I have used the DXS380 reciprocating saw for almost six years as a part time contractor. It has never let me down and had twice the power and battery life than my previous Makita saw. After years of trouble free use, I decided it was time to treat myself and upgrade to the Brushless more compact model.I ordered the bare tool because I already have 8 XR batteries (from 1 AH to 5 AH)I was stunned at the feeling of torque it produced once I slammed in a 5AH battery. The ergonomics of the design has also been vastly improved, balance, length, width, and a 4 position blade clamp are superior to the previous version.I powered throw a 4×4 in half the time, and it had a reduced amount of vibration and heat in the tool. While I haven’t put it through a full days work yet, I am extremely impressed by its superior performance and feel.I’m sure the batteries life will be much improved because its brushless…but I will edit my review if I come across any issues. I would recommend spending the extra money on this saw over the older brushed model. If it lasts half as long as my old one, I will be very happy. Certainly the best bang for your buck in the weekend warrior, handy man grade tools( I would even call these Professional grade)

I recommend a 3+ah battery for most uses. I have 5ah batteries and even those were used up pretty quickly… Standard 1.5ah batteries are good for small quick jobs but beyond a few cuts the battery dies. But aside from batteries the tool alone is good . light and manuverable and can take a beating, as ive drooped it off a roof twice and no visible damage. Hence the 4th star.

This is an awesome tool, small and lightweight and still gets the job done, if you already have batteries for the 20v dewalt and need a recip saw then this is the one. Love me dwalt 20v tools and would highly recommend

Minimal compromise for the smaller size. Compact design that still performs like a full size. If a few seconds matter to you than go with a full size, but if you want the best of both worlds size/power this one will do

much better than my previous reciprocating saws
I really like the compact design of this saw. I’m old, and the short size and light weight means that I can use the saw for longer periods of time. I also find it easier to take out with me into the garden to cut down small branches. The battery lasts for a long time. I’m surprised that a battery powered saw can be used for such a long time before recharging.

Pretty sturdy feeling
It’s compact. As long as it doesn’t chew up bat rays, it seems to have a good bite. It’s gonna roll with me to every job. This fills a huge need, not having to plug in a huge, heavy sawzall. Plenty of fresh, cheap new blades and I’ll never have an issue lacking power. As long as Icm not taking the ball joint off my Ram 3500 lol
